Landscape Planting Services in Litchfield County, CT
Complete your Litchfield County landscape with beautiful, healthy plantings from Excellence Masonry and Contracting. We design and install everything from privacy screens and foundation plantings to vibrant perennial gardens, using plants that thrive in our local climate.
A thriving landscape is built on the principle of "right plant, right place," a philosophy that goes far beyond simple aesthetics. Our planting process begins with a thorough analysis of your property's microclimates—identifying areas of full sun, deep shade, wet soil, or wind exposure. We then select plant species whose native requirements match those conditions perfectly. Before planting, we amend the soil with high-quality compost to improve structure and fertility. This scientific approach to plant selection and soil preparation minimizes future maintenance and water needs, ensuring your landscape doesn't just survive, but thrives.

FAQ's
What is the best time of year to install new plantings in CT?
Spring and fall are the ideal seasons for planting in Connecticut. The cooler temperatures and more consistent rainfall in these seasons reduce stress on new trees, shrubs, and perennials, allowing them to establish strong root systems before the heat of summer or the deep freeze of winter.
What's the difference between an annual and a perennial?
An annual plant completes its entire life cycle in one growing season and needs to be replanted each year. A perennial plant lives for more than two years, typically dying back to the ground in winter and returning from its root stock the following spring.
How do you choose the right plants for my property?
We select plants based on a comprehensive site analysis, considering factors like sun exposure (full sun, part shade, full shade), soil type, and moisture levels. We then match this information with your personal aesthetic (e.g., modern, classic, natural) and desired maintenance level.
Can you create a low-maintenance garden?
Absolutely. Creating a low-maintenance garden is a popular request. We achieve this by selecting hardy, native, and disease-resistant plants that are well-suited to your property's specific conditions, which minimizes the need for watering, fertilizing, and pruning.
What are 'privacy plantings' or 'screening'?
Privacy plantings, or screening, involve strategically installing a row or grouping of evergreen trees and shrubs (like Arborvitae or Spruce) to create a living wall. This natural barrier can block unwanted views, reduce noise, and define your property.
