Our Approach to
Retaining and Stone Walls
Excellence Masonry and Contracting has decades of experience working with engineers and individually on natural stone retaining walls, boulder walls, decorative block retaining walls, and other retaining structures. We ensure that all site conditions are considered and reflected in our construction plan and process. We achieve impeccable finish quality and long-lasting durability in every installation.
Meticulous construction and constant attention to detail make retaining walls beautiful and long-lasting. A few small mistakes can lead to a wonky-looking and structurally vulnerable wall. These mistakes will not present themself immediately either.
While dry-stacked walls look beautiful and the craftsmanship behind them is alluring- they are not the best choice structurally for large retaining structures, especially for our climate in CT. We can build the wall so it appears dry stacked but is in fact still reinforced with concrete, mortar and metal.
In most towns, yes! We will have to follow local height restrictions, and also keep your project budget in mind.
Yes, there is a large difference in the structure of "paver block" walls and natural stone walls. Both can look beautiful and last an incredibly long time. However, in most cases, natural stone walls stand up better to the test of time- often standing strong for many decades.
Depending on project specifics, CMU walls, boulder walls, paver block walls or roundstone and mortar walls can be more affordable options.
